Q: What is the difference between Bio Sculpture Gel and nail varnish?
A: For a natural overlay, where the gel is simply painted onto your own natural nail, Bio Sculpture Gel is applied with a gel brush in a very similar way to nail varnish. First a base coat is applied, usually of clear gel. If you are having a colour, you will then have 2 coats of coloured gel applied, followed by a top coat of either S-Gel or Sealer Gel. For French Gel Overlay, either 1 or 2 coats of white are applied to the ends of your nail, depending on which colour white you choose.
Nail varnish will last anything from about 2-7 days as a rough guide.Bio Sculpture Gel Nails last approx 2-3 weeks, by which time, they will have grown so much that you will need to have them either soaked off, or backfilled.
Nail varnish takes longer to be completely dry (usually longer on toes). Bio Sculpture Gel is instantly dry, as each layer sets under a UV lamp. A final layer of clear high gloss top coat is applied to waterproof the nails, which take around 2-5 mins to dry.
Nail varnish chips very easily, and if you have weak nails, they can break very easily. Bio Sculpture Gel does not chip and it gives your nails added strength, thus making your own nails less likely to break off.
Nail varnish comes off with nail varnish remover.Bio Sculpture Gel soaks off with Gel Remover. You can purchase this to remove them gently at home, or book an appointment to have them soaked off.

Q: What is the difference between Bio Sculpture Gel Overlays and Bio Sculpture Gel Extensions?
A: Bio Sculpture Gel Overlays are applied onto your own nail. They do not make your nails any longer, but can help to protect your own nails and encourage them to grow. The finished appearance is just as if you have had polish applied, only better! (Picture to left is natural French gel overlays on client's own nails) Bio Sculpture Gel Extensions are created using a nail form to naturally extend your nail to the desired length. The nail is lengthened using gel and so it does not cause damage like sticking on a plastic tip. The overall appearance is a lot more natural also. After extending the length, a Gel Overlay is then applied over the extended nail in French or a colour of your choice. (Picture below is a full set of French gel extensions to create length to client's own nails with gems on ring fingers.) |
Q: Do Bio Sculpture Gels make my nails longer? And does it help them to grow? Can they be applied to bitten nails?
A: Bio Sculpture Gels can be made to any length you require. They can be applied over your own nails as a Gel Overlay (this does not extend the length), or you can have Bio Sculpture Gel Sculptured Extensions to suit your needs. Bio Sculpture Gel is fantastic at encouraging growth! If you find it difficult to grow your nails, this may well be the answer for you! Nail biters- you too can have beautiful nails!! It does take time, and you must be determined that you want to stop biting your nails. You can have short extensions, or just have gel applied to your natural nail, which will encourage them to grow.
Q: How often do I need my Bio Sculpture Gel Nails reapplied?
A: As they start to grow out, you will need to have your nails maintained. After 2-3 weeks, they will either need backfilling (1 backfill only is recommended) or soaking off. Once soaked off, you can have a fresh new set applied. This gives you a chance to see the condition of your natural nails under the gel.
Q: Do Bio Sculpture gel Nails damage my own nails?
A: No! There are many Gel and Acrylic systems available which completely ruin your own nail. It then takes weeks or months for your nails to recover. Bio Sculpture Gel does NOT damage your nails when soaked off correctly. The only damge that may be caused is by picking off your nails, which leaves the nail bed in a traumatised state! Book in and have them removed, or purchase gel remover to soak them off yourself at home. This is available to buy- please click link below.
Q: What homecare do I need to do with my Bio Sculpture Gel Nails?
A: You've had your beautiful gels applied, now you need to keep them looking as nice as possible. At least once a week, you will need to remove the high gloss top coat with non acetone nail varnish remover or dual cleanser. You can then tidy up your nails with a file if needed. Then you need to reapply the high gloss top coat. This keeps your nails waterproofed, thus preventing lifting of your gels. If your hands are in water a lot, you may wish to reapply the top coat every 2-3 days. After 2-3 weeks, you will need to have your nails maintained, either with a backfill, or a soak off and a new set.
